Reports to: Design and Engineering Team Leader

Job Description: Solar Energy Solutions (SES) is seeking a talented engineer with proven problem-solving skills and an enthusiastic interest in the solar industry. This key position will design and project manage our residential and small commercial projects from sale through array layout, electrical design, permitting and final inspection to customer handover. Remote monitoring of completed solar installs and any linked repair and maintenance organisation is also a growing part of this job. The vacancyis based in our main Lexington, KY office and will report to the Design & Engineering Team Leader. This is an ideal entry position to get in on the ground floor of Kentucky's and the regions rapidly growing solar industry.


Duties will be varied depending on projects being proposed or under construction and may include:
    » Model site specific production of proposed PV arrays using existing industry models and software
    » Develop PV system designs using computer aided drawing tools to show site layouts, electrical one and three line diagrams and component installation details.
    » Complete utility interconnection applications and county building permit applications.
    » Compile job documentation for review by Design Manager.
    » Routine performance review and corrective action through remote monitoring of installed array portfolio.

Required Skills

    » Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
    » Ability to multi-task to manage multiple parallel projects and customer facing activities
    » Interest in the renewable energy industry
    » Proficiency with CAD, MS Excel, and MS Word software
    » Aptitude for fault-finding and diagnosing technical issues
    » Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in a professional work environment
    » Ability to deal confidently and fluently with residential and commercial customers through phone and email
    » Ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently
    » Must be detail and results-oriented with an ability to work in a cross-functional, fast paced, and constantly evolving environment

Desired Skills

    » BSEE, BSME, or BSCE from an accredited university
    » NABCEP Entry Level Certification.
    » Knowledge of electrical principles and PV design concepts
    » All candidates must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check in addition to possessing a clean drivers license and be willing to work within the company's drug testing policy.
